About This Event / イベントについて
The Tsuyunoten Shrine Setsubun Festival (節分祭) marks the end of winter with a bean-throwing ceremony (追儺式) at the shrine hall. Free udon, sacred sake, and zenzai are served from 16:15, followed by an oni parade through the Sonezaki Ohatsu-Tenjin shopping street at 17:00.
Bean-throwing begins at 17:45, with a goma fire ritual at 18:30 to close the festival. Year-men and year-women (年男・年女) can participate in the bean-throwing with advance reservation (paid). The festival is a lively neighborhood tradition in the heart of Umeda's entertainment district.
