Long-standing Kitashinchi wine bar run by a certified senior sommelier.
Wine-ya Kawasumi, in the basement of the GOTS Eiraku-cho Building in Sonezaki-shinchi, is one of Kitashinchi's longest-established wine bars. Owner Kouji Kawasumi is a JSA-certified senior sommelier who trained at the Nara Hotel and the Osaka Hilton before opening this counter in 2000. His guiding philosophy is simple: wine should be enjoyed, not intimidated over, and the list reflects decades of personal selection. The counter-led space lends itself to unhurried tasting, with glasses and bottles chosen to encourage exploration rather than ceremony. The atmosphere suits solo visitors, couples and small groups who want to talk through the selections with a seasoned professional. Opening hours run in the evening, with the bar closed on Sundays and public holidays. If you want to drink wine in the company of someone who has spent a lifetime understanding it, Wine-ya Kawasumi is a quietly exceptional choice. Let Go Umeda guide you to this characterful Kitashinchi counter and raise a glass to wine enjoyed the way it should be.Based on 38 Google reviews

A small plate with two corks sits to the left, while a glass decanter is positioned behind the glasses. The warm lighting creates an inviting ambiance.
